Ergonomic Handle Design: Fall 2019 DIY: Design and Fabrication (24-672)
The goal of this project was to improve the ergonomic design of an existing grip/handle, using Chavant Industrial Clay. I redesigned the handle of my curling iron to better fit my hand and to avoid strain on my wrist while curling my hair.
Initially, I made a shorter, wider handle that modeled my hand. It had a divot meant for your thumb and a contour around the handle that your palm. I liked the thumb space but the handle was a little too wide and small.
My second iteration was thinner and longer with a place to rest your thumb and contours for your fingers as they wrap around the handle.
